Over the last 20 years, more than 6,000 young men and women have benefited from hitting lessons given by Dr. Tim Sumner and Cory Sumner. More than 100 baseball and softball students have gone on to play in college. In addition to hitting lessons, the Batters Box is now offering baseball pitching lessons with Dave LockeandMickey Callaway,softball pitching lessons with Erica Brich, and softball catching/defensive lessons with Tracey Deaux. 2009 Batters Box Fall Teams
Black and Red 18U - Dyersburg State CC games this weekend have already been Rained Out! They are expecting 6 additional inches of rain.Both of our 18U teams will be playing down in Jackson, MS next weekend (Nov. 7-8) in a wooden bat tournament. We have been assured that our Saturday games will start late enough for us to drive down Saturday morning. Also, we have been told by the tournament director that numerous college coaches and pro scouts have committed to covering this tournament. The tournament will be played on local college fields in Jackson. We believe this is a great opportunity for our guys to get exposure, especially our seniors, so hopefully everyone can make it down for this tournament. We will pass along hotel info as soon as we get it as well as the schedules.If you cannot make it for this tournament, please let us know ASAP. All hitting and pitching lessons at the Batters Box include professional video analysis at no extra charge! (other local facilities charge $100 per 30 minute lesson with video analysis). The Batters Box believes strongly that seeing is believing and that nothing replaces the use of video analysis during lessons. LESSON CANCELLATION and MAKE-UP POLICY:
If you need to cancel a lesson for any reason, you must provide 24 hours notice prior to a scheduled lesson. Any no-shows or cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at full price. If you and the instructor can make up the missed lesson within the same week, there will be no charge. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
All pitching lessons include drills, individual instruction, professional video analysis, pre-game stretch and exercise routines as well as distance, flat-ground, and mound practice.

Workshops
Workshops are designed to be a personal learning experience for the hitter. Each workshop consists of 3 separate sessions of approximately 2 hours each. Sessions involve before, during, and after videos of each hitter, mechanical adjustments and drills, evaluations of great hitters on video, instructions in the Dodger heel-toe method of bunting, and instructions in a specific mental, emotional and mechanical approach to hitting. Motivation and confidence are continually reinforced. This unique and positive system provides the total package necessary to succeed. More importantly, it provides a firm and clear system to sustain success when growth comes, levels of competition change, and pressure increases. Without a firm system of understanding positions, directions, and movements that produce a consistent and efficient swing, the hitter cannot learn to make the adjustments needed to survive change. The last session of each workshop is a must for parents. Progress will be shown, the system will be explained, and the family will leave on the same page. There will be no doubt what needs to be done to improve. After all .... the video tells the story! Ø Discounted member lessons ($35 per 30 minute lesson/$50 per 45 minute lesson/$70 per 1 hour lesson). That is a $10 savings per 30 minute, 45 minute, and 1 hour individual lessons compared to non-member rates!
Ø UNLIMITED free cage rental each month when available (standard non-member cage rate is $50/hour). Reservations can only be made within 24 hours of your desired cage time (limit of one 30 minute reservation per day). Members are welcome to hit longer if the cage is not in use. Non-member guests must pay a $10 guest fee for their first visit and $15 each additional visit to share cage time with a member.

Batting Cages
The Batters Box cage hitting room features two 52ft short toss cages and two 70ft Iron Mike machine cages. All cages are 15ft high and 14ft wide allowing the batter to track the flight of the ball longer to better determine the quality of each hit/swing. Upgrade your game and practice like the pros!

Our Iron Mike pitching machines throw real leather baseballs for a more realistic and enjoyable practice experience. Yellow, dimpled machine balls (frequently used at other facilities) can damage your bats and do not provide realistic feedback on the quality of contact being made.
